The Polish community shares Christmas tree tradition, carol singing, sharing of 'opłatek' (Christmas wafer) and
wishes for good health, prosperity and happiness in the New Year. The event was also an opportunity for the participants to
appreciate a traditional Polish dance performance by the

2012 November - Polish Consulate Inauguration.
Undersecretary of State, Mr.Bogusław Winid handed in the Nomination for the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland
for Nova Scotia to Mr. Jan Skora on November 17, 2012.
It is a remarkable moment for the Polish community, which thus gets a better access to consular services,
while the Consulate General of Poland in Montreal shall recommence outreach sessions in that Atlantic province starting in 2013.
The nomination ceremony took place at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax and was attended
by representatives of the provincial authorities, local universities and Polish community
in Halifax. Delegation of Poland, headed by Minister B. Winid included the Ambassador
of Poland in Ottawa, Mr. Zenon Kosiniak-Kamysz, Consul General of Poland in Montreal,
Mr. Andrzej Szydło and Defence Attaché of Poland in Ottawa, Mr. Michał Pęksa.

The event was also an opportunity for the guests to appreciate a
traditional Polish dance performance by the
Pomorze Polish Dance Ensemble
founded in 1983 and thenceforth promoting the Polish folklore in Halifax.

2012 November - Jerry Kowalski receives Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
The medal is presented to Jerry for his great dedication and passion for Polish traditional dance & culture in schools, senior’s homes, and local, national and international festivals as the Artistic Director & Choreographer for the Pomorze Polish Dance Ensemble.
